Au Revoir August

August’s story starts with enjoying the dog days of summer…

And a trip to the U.P. with this wonderful family of mine that enjoys the crazy chaos of being together for over a week at the beach in a 800 square foot cabin…19 people and 6 dogs.

The cabin actually slept just 4 of us.  We had campers, tents, the boathouse and the garret for the others.

So many great memories:

After my new wheels, no more bike walks.  Now, I ride along with my littles….

My new bike is an Electra Townie.  Its a low rider and the pedals are more forward than a traditional bike.   When I got my pretty Townie, in sparkle cream and touquoise,  I felt at least as happy as I did when I got my first bike in 2nd grade.  I’ve put about 50 miles on it so far, and look forward to lots of miles this fall.

Other fun summer things….

Watching the hornets nest outside the porch

The Hines Park Cruise in the same Jeep we dated in, on our 41st wedding anniversary.

And then…I got the call from mom,  “Debbie, I’ve fallen and I think I’ve broken something.”  And she surely did, her hip required a screw to hold it together.

Less than 48 hours after surgery she was discharged to rehab.   September will be a month of healing for my 85 year old mom.

I’d like to share some of my August art next post.

Remember that summer is not over yet!

By all these lovely tokens,

September days are here,

With summer’s best of weather

And autumn’s best of cheer.
